How I can help?
Adolescent counselling is aimed at young people to help them make sense of their feelings, behaviors, thoughts, and relationships. This form of counselling is important in
helping guiding kids transitioning into adulthood and to understand themselves better. There are also so many physical changes in the body during this time that can impact their mood along with many other physiological changes. Also, information now shows that pressure to conform to their peer group along with challenges of social media have spiked anxiety and depression in this age group. Many children with or without “presenting symptoms” find having a private secure place to open up about their experiences helps them to stay “mentally fit.” They report increased strength and capacity to deal with life’s growing pressures and responsibilities. Adolescent therapy (with or without family members present) can help to focus on interpersonal development, building an alliance with your child, helping them to build an alliance with you, facilitating conversations to resolve attachment ruptures, and promoting autonomy and competency in your growing adolescent.
